The most common complaint about sunglasses isn't the color or the shape. It's that they slip, pinch or “get lost” on your face. And it's almost always down to the size.
The good news: the right size is easy to find, no fitting room needed. All you need is a pair of glasses you already wear comfortably.
The three numbers on the temple
Look on the inside of the temple of your glasses. You'll see something like 52□18 145:
- 52 = the width of each lens in millimeters.
- 18 = the bridge, i.e. the distance between the lenses (above the nose).
- 145 = the length of the temple arm, from the hinge to the tip.
A pair with a lens within ±2 mm and a bridge within ±2 mm of yours will fit you about the same.
The most important number: the frame width
The three numbers don't tell the whole story, because two pairs with the same lens can have a very different overall width. That's why at COSSELIE we classify every frame by its total front width:
- Small: up to 134 mm — for narrow and small faces, and for teens.
- Medium: 135–144 mm — the most common size.
- Large: 145 mm and up — for wide faces or an oversized look.
You'll find the size on every product page, along with all the dimensions and a sketch in true proportions.
Measure your own in 2 minutes
- Lay your glasses open on a table, lenses facing down.
- With a ruler, measure the edge-to-edge width of the front (not the temple arms).
- Compare it with the width of the pair you like: you won't notice a difference of up to 3–4 mm.
Signs that the size isn't right
- They slip down your nose when you lean forward → bridge or width too big.
- They press on your temples or leave marks → width too small.
- Your eyes aren't centered in the lenses → wrong frame width.
- They touch your cheekbones when you smile → lenses too big or sitting too low.
